The agricultural sector has the potentialto contribute significantly to the nationaleconomy. The fact that there is still a highlevel of labor absorption in the agriculturalsector, along with substantial foreignexchange contributions from the rapidlygrowing agribusiness sector and the provisionof raw materials for downstream industries,demonstrates the resilience of the agriculturalsector facing the Covid-19 pandemic. Giventhis situation, provision of accurate and timelydata on agricultural sector is crucial, as itcan assist the government and stakeholdersin planning and developing policies for bothdomestic interests and national development,serving as a valuable reference.Comprehensive basic statistical data onthe agricultural sector is obtained through theimplementation of the Census of Agriculture. Inaccordance with the provisions of Law Number16 of 1997, the main task and responsibilityfor conducting the Census of Agriculture areentrusted to the BPS-Statistics Indonesia.The 2023 Census of Agriculture (ST2023)is initiated to accommodate the necessaryvariables to present highly dynamicagricultural data. It aims to meet data needsat both national and international levels, andit is designed to produce results that align withinternational standards, referring to the Foodand Agricultural Organization (FAO) programknown as the World Programme for the Censusof Agriculture (WCA) 2020. Therefore, it isanticipated that ST2023 will present data thatcan be compared internationally.
